"Anticipating an audience with the Pope"

On arriving in St Peters square, I was at first disappointed at the seats covering the middle of the square - In my head I had been imagining the square to be deserted and peaceful, allowing me to be unhindered in my photography - Sooooooo naive!!!
As it turns out, the chairs allowed me to create a slightly different shot - getting low down, I ensured the chairs were prominent in the foreground and created strong lines leading towards the Basilica. The lightened cobbled ground between the chairs leads you up to the Facade of the Basilica - I'm not overly religious, but I cannot imagine a grander platform for the Pope to address his people from.
This photo was taken using a Canon EOS-M with an 18-55mm EF lens and post-processed in Lightroom 5 - I started with a black & white present, and used various radial filters and adjustment brushes to highlight certain areas.
